The Holy Zohar

For generations, the holy Zohar, revealed by the Tanna Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, may his merit shield us, has stood at the heart of the hidden wisdom of Torah. Yet for those outside the language of Aramaic and Hebrew, access to this light has been partial, abridged, or clouded by interpretation. What is now placed before the world is a work without precedent: a twelve-volume, complete, and unabridged interlinear translation of the Zohar, remaining faithful in every respect to the text as it has been preserved by our sages.

In this edition, every word of Aramaic and Hebrew stands in its place, with its English rendering beside it, not as commentary but as faithful transmission. The translation does not stray from the rhythm and cadence of the Zohar’s own voice, so that the English reader may stand at the threshold of the original and hear its sound. Zoharic terms are preserved in transliteration—Orayta, Kudsha Berikh Hu, Shekhinta, Ein Sof, Tzimtzum, Kav haYashar, Tehiru—so that the one who studies in English may also begin to learn the holy tongue and draw near to the language in which these mysteries were first spoken.

In keeping with the tradition of truth, sources are presented in Hebrew, Aramaic, and English, leaving nothing concealed. The classic Daf pagination system is retained, for the first time in any English edition, allowing the Zohar to be studied according to the order known in every beit midrash.

This work is not interpretation, nor abridgment, but the restoration of the Zohar’s words to the people of Israel and to the world, word for word, letter for letter, in a form that is both faithful and accessible. It is a task of devotion and awe, brought forth so that the gates of the Zohar may open more widely than ever before.

In these twelve volumes, the reader encounters not only a translation, but a bridge—a way to hear Rabbi Shimon’s voice across the generations, and to join the chain of those who study the Zohar in truth.
